Hello, I am so grateful that you are here. I wanted to introduce myself and share how yoga became such an important part of my life. I found yoga 10 years ago through the gym in my hometown. It was a small intimate room with wonderful instructors. I took class with my mother and my sister and I guess I never took it seriously since I was flexible but not strong. A few years later at a new gym I would attend yoga in the evenings. I would tell myself, "Im just here for savasanna!" But yoga always brought me back. I attended off and on in between running and Pilates and weight training. I was always very active. After I moved away when I married my husband in 2009 I would practice in my home using Hulu, Netflix, or the Internet and I never felt challenged. I used yoga as a relaxing stretch routine. When I became pregnant I used prenatal DVDs on Netflix to periodically try to get some relief from my aching back. After the birth of my son I was motivated to get back into shape and I found myself drawn back to my mat to practice yoga. Then something clicked, I wondered why I always kept coming back after stopping for months, even years at a time. Still using Hulu (which I do recommend as a beginners resource to get all the yoga in they desire) I practiced more and more after my son went to bed. I would browse studios around town and I never managed to go to one. Then my husband left on an unaccompanied assignment and I moved back home with my 2 year old son. Living at home again was very difficult for me and I turned to yoga. Yoga drew me back in once more. I attended the gym twice a week and practice daily using online videos. I found myself wanted more and more. Once day browsing studios online I realized I could become a teacher and I would have tuition paid for. The universe was screaming at me to do it! With the support of my parents I attended CorePower Teacher Training in Costa Mesa and completed a RYA 200 Hour program. It was a life changing experience. I had formal training for the first time so I went into the program with a lot to learn. I had 4 wonderful coaches and a whole community of positive, warm, and inviting people to support me through my journey. I was physically and mentally challenged and I emerged from my training with a new outlook on life. My journey is now beginning and I am excited to share it with each and every one of you.
To many more new beginnings and exciting journeys! Love & Light -Amelia
